Small Turf Orders & Last-Minute Orders
At West Turf, we harvest Monday to Friday and most Saturdays. This means we’re well-placed for turf orders, small or large, and turf ordered in advance or at the last minute.
We’re known for filling orders that other turf farms won’t.
Small turf orders
There are so many reasons you might need to place a smaller turf order.
Property sizes in Brisbane, Ipswich, and South East Queensland are much smaller these days than they used to be. It’s not unusual for customers to only need 50sqm of turf to cover their backyard. Patch-up jobs are also common — maybe the kids have outgrown the trampoline, and you want to re-turf where the grass has died underneath it. Perhaps your dog has worn a patch in the yard at your rental, and you want to fix it up before you move out.
In fact, there are many reasons people need just a little bit of turf. Unlike many of our larger competitors, West Turf can fill small orders as pick-ups at our farm. We regularly have requests for as little as 5sqm!
Last-minute orders
We have two trucks that run turf to Ipswich, Brisbane and Logan areas Monday to Friday, and also on Saturday mornings by arrangement. Orders over 50sqm can be delivered, but at short notice, it can be tricky to find room on our trucks.
We know that life is busy. Sometimes, our customers don’t know until the last minute that they have time to get that turf job done. This is why we always encourage the urgent question, “Can you fit my order on the truck?”
But if we can’t, customers are very welcome to come out to the farm to collect. Our gate is open Monday to Friday mornings and most Saturday mornings.
A ute and trailer can fit up to 100sqm turf
A ute and single axle trailer can hold up to 100sqm of turf. A 50sqm pallet of turf will weigh approximately one tonne but can vary between 750kg and 1,200kg, depending on harvest conditions and variety.

Hire a ute
If you are keen to pick up a load of turf, but don’t have a vehicle with carrying or towing capacity, there will be a vehicle hire company that can help you. Bunnings provides a ute hire service. You can find more information on the Bunnings website.
If you do plan to hire a ute, make sure you consider the insurance costs and any relevant excesses, as well as all associated charges for fuel and travel time. Keep in mind, we charge a $132.00 delivery fee for anywhere within our delivery zone for orders over 100sqm and a $165.00 fee for orders 50-99sqm. Orders under 50sqm can be delivered for $198.00 but will be delivered with our ute and unloaded by hand.
If hiring a vehicle, allow:
- At least 15 minutes to load at the farm.
- The correct travel time and distance from West Turf farm to your site.
- The time it will take to unload the delivery at your site.
- The travel time to return the hire vehicle.
